PRISON KIDS SCREENING – SAMPLE AGENDA
Below is a draft agenda for you to use at your screening with approximate times and suggestions for the host.
1.Welcome & Introductions – 5-10 minutes (depending on number of attendees)
Introduce yourself and your organization if applicable. Explain why you are hosting the film. Invite your guests to introduce themselves and, if there is time, give one sentence saying why they are attending.
2.Introduce the Film – 2 minutes
Given a brief description of Prison Kids. Let the audience know it is about an hour long and that a discussion will follow.
3.Film Viewing – 64 minutes
4.Discussion – 30 minutes
Use the SAMPLE QUESTIONS to generate discussion about the topics the film raises. You can also consider inviting an expert or two to set up a dialogue with attendees around the issues raised in the film. Examples include youth and families with justice system experience, juvenile defenders, school officials, law enforcement, probation officers and judges to name a few.
5.Thanks & Next Steps – 10 minutes
Thank everyone for attending. If applicable, use the closing for a call to action on an issue that might be pressing in your community. If can be anything from supporting legislation, signing a petition, writing a letter to the editor, hosting another screening, volunteering, or even encouraging people to vote on Election Day.
